EmpowerMama is a Pennsylvania Medicaid-enrolled doula agency. When you refer a patient, our team contacts them, verifies their coverage and matches them with a doula who fits their needs, language and location.

 

Who we serve

Pregnant and postpartum patients with Pennsylvania Medicaid, including Keystone First, Highmark Wholecare, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and Geisinger Health Plan, plus UnitedHealthcare commercial plans. We serve 27 counties across Eastern and Central Pennsylvania.

Doula recommendation forms

Pennsylvania Medicaid requires a doula recommendation from a licensed provider before services begin. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers and licensed psychologists enrolled in Medical Assistance can sign it. We send the form and handle the rest.

 

What our doulas provide

Non-medical emotional, physical and informational support: prenatal visits, continuous labor and delivery support, and in-home postpartum visits that include lactation and newborn care support. Our doulas work alongside your care team and speak English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
